White men are overwhelmingly represented in US art galleries and museums. At Broad Room, we are working to change that by providing affordable studio space + access to resources that LGBTQIA+, non-binary, BIPOC, and women artists need to succeed.
This year, for #GIVINGTUESDAY, we are raising $3,000 in monthly donations to sustain our Cosmic Library program. This program has already given away over $5,000 in FREE NEW art supplies to local artists.
Earlier this month, one of the artists in the Broad Room studio sold her first piece of original artwork for $1,500! Not only is she an incredibly talented artist, but she’s someone we are exceedingly proud to call one of our own.
Broad Room was not only able to offer her affordable rent, but we also we able to forgive her rent (and that of every other artist in our warehouse) for four months at the beginning of the pandemic thanks to our community support. This gave every artist in our studio (primarily LGBTQIA+, nonbinary, BIPOC, and women) a chance to breathe and not worry about paying for their studio space. Contributions from our community helped to make this happen.
We dream of providing free studio space, free access to art supplies, free access to tools, and opportunities to connect with the community for every artist in our community who has been (and continues to be) underrepresented in the global art world.
And you can help us to make that a reality by pledging to make a monthly contribution to Broad Room!
