When is Broad Room re-opening?
Coronavirus has not gone away. We don’t have a vaccine, the virus is still incredibly contagious, and people are dying. Broad Room’s Community Studio has been closed since mid-March and we do not currently have plans to reopen to the public.
We are reevaluating our plans for the remainder of 2020 at the studio, but rest assured that Broad Room is not going anywhere.
Want to help artists in Sacramento?
Donate directly to Broad Room here. Donations to Broad Room help us to maintain our warehouse, pay our bills, and continue to forgive the rent of our 13 studio artists. You can also Venmo @broadroom or PayPal broadroomsac@gmail.com :) (btw, we are a 501c3 so donations are tax deductible!)
Donate to the Sacramento Covid-19 Artist Relief Fund. Thanks to our donors, we were able to send money to a trans artist experiencing health issues and houselessness this week who still has not received their unemployment check. We continue to receive requests for funds and your help is GREATLY appreciated. You can also donate via Venmo @broadroom or PayPal broadroomsac.org — please just include Artist Relief Fund in the comment!
Share this newsletter! Spreading the word about Broad Room is extremely helpful. With a wider reach, we are able to offer funds and other types of support to more artists throughout our community. We appreciate your help in spreading our message 💗
Releasing Imposter Syndrome
Imposter Syndrome is a particularly insidious and pervasive phenomenon, especially among artists who identify as women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, non-binary, and/or disabled. It can stunt our growth, keep us from achieving our goals, and silence our voice. In this workshop, we will identify the roots of Imposter Syndrome in ourselves and how it manifests — self-sabotage, perfectionism, and limiting beliefs.
We will work through the ways in which existing harmful structures like capitalism, racism, homophobia, and the patriarchy keep us from realizing our potential.
This is a donation-based class meaning that you only pay what you can afford. The class will be about one hour long on Saturday July 18 from 1-2pm PDT. If you cannot make it to the class in-person, a recording will be sent out shortly thereafter.
