In the very first episode of the Honest Mess Podcast, I dive deep into my Honest Mess story from the last two years. I talk about the part I played in hitting a couple different rock bottoms, how I used ~trendy self-care~ to try to force myself to love myself (spoiler alert: it didn’t work), and how I am working towards holding myself accountable in order to build self-trust + self-worth.

What I’m watching, doing, and into right now:
The Last Dance on Netflix: Here’s my basketball story — in 9th grade, my PE teacher was over teaching. Since I attended a school with both indoor + outdoor courts, we did basketball literally everyday for an entire school year. As someone who is not particularly fond of team sports, this was a nightmare. Anyway, I don’t care much for basketball. That being said, this docu-series following Michael Jordan’s career from college through the 1998 NBA season was interesting, inspiring, and provided a deep look into an icon who has been both idolized and villainized. If you are looking for something to watch, I highly recommend this even if you’re not that into sports or basketball or even Michael Jordan.
It’s Not All Good: a somatic exploration of spiritual bypassing: Full disclosure, I haven’t yet finished this guide and it also costs $44. That being said, I’ve kind struggled to really understand spiritual bypass in the past, but this guide has shown me just how much I perpetrate it against myself. Which means it has probably seeped out and hurt people around me before. Follow the link to check it out and learn more about the author on their website!
Lots of bubbly water (that isn’t La Croix): No shade to La Croix, but I’m trying to expand my horizons during this heatwave + during my month-long break from alcohol (you can hear more about that in this podcast ep). So far my favorites are Good+Gather Cucumber Mint (I get it at Target), Nixie Watermelon Mint (I get it at Market 515), and San Pellegrino Lemon Mint (also from Market 515, and is more like a soda than sparkling water but it’s definitely a refreshing treat). Stay hydrated y’all 💦!
